Forte and Tablada, Inc. was formed in 1961 by Vincent A. Forte, P.E., an electrical engineer and Julian Tablada, P.E., a mechanical engineer. In the early days, the founding Principals concentrated work mostly in the areas of industry and public works, including roadway projects and the rehabilitation of several state prison facilities in the 1970's. They also became heavily involved in industry power distribution, particularly in the Geismar, LA area.
In 1976, Vincent Forte took sole proprietorship of the firm, keeping the name due to its 15 previous years of success. At that time, Sidney Murray, then-Mayor of Vidalia, LA, began working with F&T President, Brad Lancaster to explore the idea of hydroelectric power on the Mississippi River. Forte and Tablada would become the Owner's Engineers on the $550 million, 192 MW Hydro Project. Completed in 1990, this momentous project was chosen as one of the National Society of Professional Engineer's (NSPE) Top 10 Engineering Projects in the Country in 1991.
In 1990, Mr. Forte became ill, but his successors—beginning with Mr. Lucien Virgillo, P.E. and Mr. Richard Gremillion, P.E. all the way to present-day CEO Ann Forte Trappey, P.E. and CFO Robert J. "Bobby" Badeaux—have continued his legacy of leadership and excellence in engineering. Ann Forte Trappey, P.E., first began as CEO in 1993 after much success as an engineer with both government departments and private firms. Under her leadership, and with the help of Mr. Badeaux, Forte and Tablada has continued to expand its infrastructure services in all four areas of engineering: civil, environmental, mechanical, and electrical. The firm has also grown a loyal following of clients in the public and private sectors including LA DOTD, Department of Corrections, and SNF-Flopam.
The company has also grown to better accommodate the needs of these clients: Baton Rouge Land Surveying was acquired by Forte and Tablada, Inc. in 2007, headed by Mr. Wilfred Fontenot since 2010. BBC Engineering, Inc. of Shreveport, LA became a division of Forte and Tablada, Inc. in 2010. The three BBC principals remain in management positions in the company: Mr. Robert "Bob" Basinger, P.E., PLS, Mr. Desmond "Desi" Sprawls, P.E., PLS, and Mr. David Leslie, P.E. In addition to these branches, Forte and Tablada, Inc. operates a branch office in Denham Springs, LA in order to better serve our clients in outlying areas of Baton Rouge. In 2013, Engensus, LLC and Engensus Measurements were acquired by Forte and Tablada, Inc to include structural and advanced measurements to our menu of services and adding Russell "Joey" Coco, Jr., P.E., MBA as a firm principal.
