FORTE AND TABLADA is a consulting engineering and land surveying firm specializing in civil, environmental, electrical and mechanical engineering and land surveying consulting. The company was originally formed in 1961 by Vincent A. Forte, P.E., an Electrical Engineer and Julian Tablada, P.E. a Mechanical Engineer. The firm originally occupied offices located off of Acadian Thruway (near Catholic High). In the middle to late1960’s we moved to a building on Wooddale Boulevard. In 1976 we moved to our present location at the 9107 Interline Avenue location. In 1999 we expanded our geographic location to include Plaquemine, LA and Denham Springs, LA.
In the early days, the two founding Principals, Vincent Forte and Julian Tablada concentrated their work mostly in the areas of industry and public works. Roadway projects as well as rehabilitation of several state prison facilities were introduced in the early 70s. FORTE AND TABLADA became heavily involved in Power distribution for industry particularly in the Geismar, LA area.
In 1976, Vincent Forte purchased 100% of the stock, but chose to keep the company name due to its previous 15 years of success. Also in the mid 70’s, Sidney Murray, the then Mayor of Vidalia, LA working with Brad Lancaster, F&T President, began to explore the idea of Hydroelectric Power on the Mississippi River. The project began construction in 1986 and was completed in 1990. F&T were the Owner’s Engineers on the $550 million, 92 MW Hydro Project. The project was chosen as one of the National Society of Professional Engineer’s (NSPE) 1991 Top 10 Engineering Projects in the Country.
Our work has continued to expand in a variety of infrastructure areas for a wide variety of clients, from Shintech to LA DOTD, Facility Planning and Control, the State Military Department, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension, St. James and St. Martin Parishes. We continue to work with the Department of Corrections and have worked in every facility in the state performing projects ranging from upgrades to sewer systems to Fire Marshal order renovations; from designing new bathroom facilities to new water distribution systems. Infrastructure design has become our main area of expertise. The new millennium has FORTE AND TABLADA expanding its services in the Civil and Environmental Services as well as the Electrical and Mechanical arenas.
BRANCH OFFICES
At present, FORTE AND TABLADA has two branch offices one in Plaquemine, LA and one in Denham Springs, LA, which are currently engaged in pursuing existing and new markets and expanding our services. Branch offices are opened as required to meet the needs of clients in other operating areas, as well as to meet the strategic growth needs of the company.
