Bayou Plaquemine Bridge & Bayou Jacob Approach Roadway
Plaquemine, LA

Project included topographic surveying, engineering and Right-of-Way Plan development for the construction of the first phase of a Roadway/Bridge Project to create Enterprise Boulevard in Iberville Parish, LA. This new roadway and bridge connects LA Hwy 3066 to LA Hwy 77 and is a portion of the overall plan to eventually create a loop around Plaquemine, LA connecting LA 1 via LA 992-3 from LA 75 to LA 1148. Approximately 1800’ of asphalt 2 lane roadway was constructed with combination curb and gutter, which connected the new bridge over Bayou

Plaquemine on the LA 3066 side of Bayou Plaquemine to the LA 77 side of the Bayou. The bridge was designed by ABMB Engineers as a subconsultant to Forte and Tablada. The bridge is a 266’ continuous span and slab span (special detailed) bridge. The portion of the bridge adjacent to LA 3066 and the bridge end required special detailing.
Forte and Tablada worked closely with the Coast Guard to develop and meet the requirements of the Coast Guard bridge permit. Forte and Tablada performed the environmental work and filed the 404 permit prior to construction.
Forte and Tablada was also responsible for setting the alignment through existing cane fields and for all of the topographic and right of way survey work. The project was completed as a Joint Venture with Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation. Also designed as part of the joint venture was the 3 miles of roadway and another shorter bridge over a major drainage canal.
Construction cost for the phase from LA 3066 to LA 77 (including the bridge) was $1.5 million.

Construction cost for the phase from LA 77 to 1148 (including the bridge) was approximately $3 million.
