Iberville Parish Council

PLAQUEMINE, LA

Forte & Tablada, Inc. provided the Topographic Surveying, Engineering and Right-Of-Way plan development for the construction of the first phase of a roadway/bridge project. This new roadway and bridge connects LA Hwy 3066 to LA Hwy 77 and is a portion of the overall plan to eventually create a loop around Plaquemine, connecting LA 1 via LA 992-3 from LA 75 to LA 1148.

Approximately 1800 feet of asphalt two lane roadway was constructed with combination curb and gutter which connected the new bridge over Bayou Plaquemine on the LA 3066 side to the LA 77 side of the bayou. The bridge was designed by ABMB Engineers as a sub consultant to Forte & Tablada.

The bridge is a 266 feet continuous span and slab span (special detailed) bridge. The portion of the bridge adjacent to LA 3066 and the bridge end required special detailing. Forte & Tablada worked closely with the Coast Guard to develop and meet the requirements of the bridge permit.

Forte & Tablada performed the environmental work and filed the 404 permit prior to construction and was also responsible for setting the alignment through existing cane fields and for all of the Topographic and Right-Of-Way survey work. also designed were three miles of roadway and another shorter bridge over a major drainage canal. The project was completed as a joint venture with the Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation.
