Coastal Restoration and Engineering Services for Rycade Canal (DNR)

Department of Natural Resources

CAMERON PARISH, LA

The Department of Natural Resources contracted Forte & Tablada, Inc. to perform the Design Engineering and Construction Oversight for repair and maintenance of structures, earthen levees, spoil banks and roads along part of the Rycade Canal in Cameron Parish, near Hackberry, Louisiana.

This project included surveying information gathered by Baton Rouge Land Surveying, A Division of Forte & Tablada, Inc., the reconstruction and repair of 17,000 feet of levee along the Rycade Canal and the marshland management restoration of 6575 acres of former marsh that had been flooded with water.

As the levee restoration and road repairs included acres of marsh in and adjacent to the Sabine Wildlife Refuge, every care was taken to ensure that no environmental damage was caused, including close monitoring of construction materials and equipment fluids to keep them from impacting the surrounding environment.
