Warsaw/Blood River Landing Sewer System Upgrade
Springfield, LA
|
Engineering, Land Surveying and Environmental Services for new sewer system to serve the Warsaw and Blood River Landing areas of Livingston Parish just south of Springfield, Louisiana. The project is located in Sections 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, 36, 37, Township 7 South, Range 8 South.
The project is being funded by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development in which an application including a Preliminary Engineering Report and Environment Report were completed.
The Preliminary Engineering Report indicated that the installation of a sewer collection system and treatment plant will improve the public health and safety by removing the individual homeowner owned sewage treatment plants and install a more efficient central treatment plant. In addition, the more stringent effluent standards imposed by the Department of Environmental Quality will be met. Several of the canals and rivers are considered scenic and therefore have

| stricter effluent requirements for public wastewater treatment plants than is required for privately owned systems.
The project was setup with two phases of construction with the following descriptions for each phase:
Phase I proposed construction will provide sewer collection and central treatment for approximately 130 homes and 45 trailers. The proposed project will consist of the construction of sewer force main, sewer gravity collection system, an extended air waste water treatment plant with a sandfilter and a limestone access road to the treatment plant. Construction on the project will include a concrete slab for the treatment plant and sandfilter and two (2) lift stations (one (1) submersible pump station and one (1) top mounted pump station) and the installation of the waste water treatment plant, sandfilter and all necessary equipment to provide for adequate treatment of the wastewater. The collection system will consist of approximately 3,234 linear feet of eight (8) inch sanitary sewer lines and 2,866 linear feet of force main ranging in size from 2 to 6 inches connected to the 2 lift/pump stations. Manholes are spaced according to the Ten State Standards. Sewer services will be six (6) inch lines.
Phase II proposed construction will provide sewer collection for approximately 250 homes as well as Springfield Middle School (approximately 350 students plus faculty and staff). The proposed project will consist of the construction of sewer force main, sewer gravity collection system. Construction on the project will include eight (8) grinder stations and three (3) submersible vortex pump stations. The collection system will consist of approximately 23,766 linear feet of eight (8) inch sanitary sewer lines and 15,634 linear feet of force main ranging in size from 1.5 to 4 inches connected to the 11 lift/pump stations. Manholes are spaced according to the Ten State Standards. Sewer services will be six (6) inch lines.
Design will also include all electrical upgrades required to meet the needs of the new system. F&T also obtained a 404 Permit and a Coastal Management Permit for this project. Construction Management will also be provided by F&T.
Total Estimated Project Cost: $4,516,600
